Siasia raised alarmed over the refusal of several clubs to allow their players leave for the Olympics like Alex Iwobi and Iheanacho.
The coach revealed that midfielder Wilfred Ndidi will join the team in America before the start of the games in August.
“We have some players that have promised to join us and they have shown commitment like Wilfred Ndidi who has assured us that he will join us in America. “Other players that also promised to come are: goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi, Kenneth Omeruo and Mikel Obi. These are the players that are confirmed for now,”Siasia told Goal.
“If we can get all these players with the ones with us already and we can play the way we want them to play I am sure we will have the chance to fight for the gold medal at stake in the Olympics.
“But like I have been saying it won’t be easy at all at the Olympics but we will try and push this team to the level needed to compete for honours in this high level of competition.”
Meanwhile, Nigerian minister of sports Solomon Dalung has questioned coach Samson Siasia’s 35 man Rio Olympics squad.
The minister is not impressed by Siasia’s move to leave out many of the players who qualified for the tournament by winning the U-23 African Cup of Nations in December 2015. Source: Click Banner below : To View picture in this News and more Click the Banner below :
