Kano Beheading: What Islam Says About Blasphemy and Related Killings

Thursday’s brazen killing of a market woman, Bridget Agbahime, at Kofar Wambai market in Kano, who was alleged to have blasphemed the Prophet Muhammad has left many people the world over shocked, saddened, and even infuriated.
As the smoke cleared and as the Kano State Government and the Nigeria Police announced the arrest of the prime suspects in the killing, PREMIUM TIMES requested its in-house faith writer (Islam) to conduct extensive research in the Qur’an and the Hadith with a view to establishing Islam’s position on blasphemy and killings.

President Buhari ‘critically ill’, VP Osinbajo to represent him at ECOWAS meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari is reportedly ill and is currently receiving treatment at the Presidential Villa, Premium Times reports.
President Muhammadu BuhariThe President is said to have contracted an ear infection known as Meniere Disease, which has caused the 73-year-old to suffer hearing impairment, severe pain and unusual sounds in the ear.
According to sources privy to the situation, only family members and high profile individuals are aware of the President’s health condition.
The President is reportedly being treated by his physician and other experts from the State House Clinic and might even fly out of the country if the condition persists. . President Muhammadu Buhari is ill and is being treated at the presidential villa, PREMIUM TIMES can authoritatively report.
The president has an infection in his left ear, otherwise called Meniere Disease, a challenge which has drastically reduced his outings in the last one week.
As a result of the infection, the president now suffers hearing impairment and routinely complains of severe pains and unusual sounds from that ear, those familiar with his condition told PREMIUM TIMES.

Muhammad Ali, boxing legend, cultural icon dies at 74

Muhammad Ali, the three-time heavyweight champion boxer whose electrifying prowess in the ring and controversial outspokenness outside of it made him one of the world’s most recognizable personalities of the 20th Century, died Friday after a battle with a respiratory illness. He was 74.
Ali, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s syndrome in 1984, died at a Phoenix hospital.
Ali family spokesperson Bob Gunnell said in a statement that Ali’s funeral will take place in his hometown of Louisville, Ky.
“The Ali family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and support and asks for privacy at this time.”

Another Militant Group Emerges In Niger Delta, Threatens To Launch Six Missiles

New Militant GroupIt warned the Nigerian military to peacefully leave Ijaw communities and not attempt to deploy helicopters to the South South zone as it is going to bring them down.
The group, which claimed affiliation to the Niger Delta Avengers, warned that no flight operations should take place within the country’s airspace as the missiles were capable of bringing down any aircraft no matter how big.
